The North East's Leading Newborn Photographer

Newborn Photography

Welcoming your newborn baby into the world is one of the most magical moments in a parent’s life, and capturing those first precious weeks will leave you with a memory you can treasure forever.

The best time to carry out newborn photography is within the first 14 days following baby’s arrival. During this time your newborn will sleep for much of the time and will still be curled up in the foetal position. This enables me to gently position them without them waking. However please don’t worry if your baby has already arrived and you’ve missed the first 14 days as I can get stunning newborn photos up to 3 months old.

My warm and cosy studio is the perfect place to carry out this special shoot. As a Mum myself I am used to handling babies and will work with you to ensure you are happy and comfortable throughout your Newborn Photoshoot.

I have a range of stunning dresses for Mums, so it’s one less thing for you to have to worry about.

I know that babies seldom arrive on schedule so I will work with you to ensure we capture your newborn’s first few weeks, despite any early or late arrivals! Ideally, contact me during your pregnancy to schedule a rough date for your session, then once baby arrives I will adjust the booking accordingly. I only have a limited number of shoots per weeks, so call us now on 0191 7163551 to reserve a time a round your due date. Please book as early as possible to secure your newborn photo session – ideally, around the time of your 20-week scan.

FAQ

It is best to book your newborn session during pregnancy as to secure a slot near your due date. I know that babies seldom arrive to schedule so will work with you to ensure we capture your newborns first few weeks, despite any early or late arrivals.
It’s best to give me a call on 07740358886 so I can talk you through the experience so you know exactly what to expect during a Newborn photoshoot. I explain what to bring and work out the best time for you so that partners can be involved too. I then always send a list of recommendations for the newborn photoshoot to help the session go smoothly, especially for first time parents.
There are multiple purchase options available which include canvas, wooden panels, acrylic panels, solo frames, mosaic frames, multi aperture frames or digital files. When you come to the studio you can see the range of different products I sell. For framed work my prices range from £99 for a framed 8×6” print up to £600 for a massive 22×22” mosaic frame.

Normally I put bespoke packages together for my customers comprising of both digital images and wall art. Customers on average spend between £500-£800 on a Newborn Photoshoot but leave with not only digital images which they can print onto mugs, key rings, thank you cards and in memory books but also some art for their walls which they can get joy from seeing everyday.

Absolutely. Sibling shots are some of the most cherished shots so its important to schedule your Newborn photoshoot to include older siblings. For example if you have a toddler, its best to book to avoid nap time and if your older child is at school, then a Saturday photoshoot may suit you best. I had plenty of toys to keep toddlers entertained but feel free to bring any of your child’s own favourite toys.

Lots of parents worry about how their toddler will behave during Newborn photoshoot but don’t worry firstly I’ve seen it all, I’m extremely patient and also I have plenty tricks up my sleeve to capture some beautiful moments. Take a look at some of my google reviews if you need convincing.

How to get the best sibling and newborn shots with toddlers
I can’t recommend getting these shots highly enough. Lots of Newborn parents feel like they don’t want to get in front of the camera after so many sleepless nights. My style is very relax so I don’t make parents pose but more just snuggle their new baby. The result is a beautiful moment which most parents then love. At the beginning of any Newborn shoot I always clarify if you’re wanting these shots. Some parents even just opt for baby in arms shots. Have a look through my Newborn gallery if you’re undecided.

Why you should be in the photos with your newborn baby
After the session I lovingly edit all of your images from your Newborn Photoshoot and put together not only a video of those edited images but I also mock up example artwork. I go through your images and see which pictures work well together. This process usually takes a week so often viewing galleries are scheduled for one week after your Newborn photoshoot.

At this point you are invited back to view your images and I work with you to help you choose what products you’d like. Its important not to rush this process and viewing galleries normally last up to an hour. My aim is for you to walk away not only having loved the experience but also being thrilled with the outcome. If artwork is ordered I always tell customers it can take up to 3 weeks to arrive back to the studio.
The best time to carry out Newborn photography is within the first 2 weeks following baby’s arrival, this is because your Newborn will sleep for much of the time and will still be curled up in the foetal position. This enables me to gently position them without them waking. However you can still get stunning Newborn photos after this point, usually up to 3 months as your baby will still be sleeping large amounts and we can schedule your shoot accordingly.

Newborn Photoshoot after 2 weeks
Newborn photoshoots are always scheduled for up to 3 hours. Most shoots don’t take this long however its important to go with the babies needs. If they need a feed, winding or changing I just follow the babies cues. As well as relaxing music, I always have tea, coffee and chocolate readily available in the studio to keep tired new parents going so the whole experience is a relaxing and enjoyable one.
